Sydney three-piece Art Vs Science famously formed after Dan McNamee witnessed a Daft Punk concert in 2008 and convinced his buddies Jim Finn and Dan Williams to take the plunge and form an electro-pop dance act. The band had a jump-start, winning triple j’s Splendour in the Grass Unearthed Competition, which they followed up with festival appearances at Parklife, Falls Festival and Good Vibrations. Their major breakthrough was the classic song “Parlez Vous Francais?” which was voted number two on triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2009. The video was also a favourite and won Australian Music Video of the Year at the 2009 J Awards. The band infiltrated in the UK, with the track receiving airplay on BBC1 and XFM. The band also toured their frenetic live show in support of La Roux and Groove Armada.

The band’s second EP Magic Fountain was released in August 2010 and peaked at number 14 on the Australian single chart. It also garnered three ARIA nominations for Best Dance Release, Best Independent Release and Best Video.

The single “Finally See Our Way” was the first cut from Art Vs Science’s debut LP The Experiment, which was released in late 2010. It reached number two on the ARIA album chart and number one on the Australian Artist albums chart. Further singles from the album were “A.I.M Fire!”, “Higher” and “With Thoughts”. Highlights in 2011 included supporting The Chemical Brothers on their Australian tour and receiving the honour of Best Independent Release at the ARIA Music Awards.
