APRA|AMCOS offers Broadcast and Reproduction Licences to Community Radio Broadcasters.
Community Radio Broadcasters generally fall into two categories: Permanent or Temporary. The type of licence they have from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) determines their status. APRA|AMCOS has customised licences for each type of community radio station.
Broadcast Licences
- Permanent Community Radio
Currently, not all Permanent Community Broadcasters are required to supply APRA|AMCOS with the details regarding the musical works they broadcast, and not all stations are included on the sample roster. This is because the administrative costs to both the station and to APRA|AMCOS would outweigh the actual distribution of royalties to the copyright owners represented by us.
Community broadcasters have to provide APRA|AMCOS with:
- Statement of Gross Earnings (The Schedule Part 2) for each financial period, and
- Music Use Percentage, which determines the rate at which applicable income is assessed.
You can download the Statement of Gross Earnings Form below and view an example of a completed form below as well. Just click on the links to view the relevant documents.

- Radio Print Handicapped Services Community Radio
APRA|AMCOS has a separate licence scheme for Radio Print Handicapped broadcasters. The broadcasters pay an annual fee, which is adjusted from year to year with the CPI (Consumer Price Index).
Currently RPH Services do not need to provide APRA with any logs of music broadcast on their service.

- Temporary Community Radio
A complimentary licence applies from the date of your first test transmission for up to two years. Following the expiry of 24 months from the date of your first test transmission, fees are assessed according to the revenue reported on the Statement of Gross Earnings (Schedule-Part 2) for each financial period. Currently Temporary/Aspirant Community Broadcasters do not need to provide APRA with any logs of music broadcast on their service.

The Schedule Part 2 (Statement of Gross Earnings)
We have a range of reproduction licences that enable Community Broadcasters to:
- dub published music onto tape, CD, computer hard disk (or any other device from which music can be reproduced) and the retention of these recordings beyond the statutory limit of 12 months from the first date of broadcast;
- distribute these recordings to other radio broadcasters in Australia;
- broadcast sound recordings in our production music libraries, either in advertisements, sponsorship announcements or as part of programs; and
- dub musical works and sound recordings in our production music libraries, either into advertisements, station IDs, sponsorship announcements or programs.
Agreement PC allows community radio stations to do all of the activities described above. There is a flat annual fee for this licence. This fee is subject to changes in the Consumer Price Index. This fee is halved for aspirant or temporary community radio stations.

Agreement EC is for stations that do NOT use our production music libraries. It allows stations to retain recordings of commercially-released music beyond 12 months and to circulate these recordings to other stations with a licence for broadcasting in Australia. If a station wishes to use production music on an occasional basis, it can contact our production music department to obtain a licence for each particular use. See Production Music.
