Licensing for record labels and distributors

The Physical Product Agreement (PPA) is generally the appropriate licence for a record label that has both a number of current releases and ongoing sales.

The PPA covers all physical products (e.g. CDs, vinyl, DVDs and karaoke) other than mass storage devices.  Rates vary for different formats (e.g. audio recordings are generally licensed at 8.7% of the publisher price to the dealer, DVDs are licensed at 6.5% and karaoke recordings at 10.5%).  These headline rates are subject to minimum rates and other adjustments.

The PPA may not be suitable for small labels because of the ongoing tracking and reporting obligations that are required to comply with the agreement.
