APRA|AMCOS Departments

Chief Executive Officer

Brett Cottle

Responsible for: implementing the strategic plans and policies established by the boards of directors and for meeting the boards' expectations for organisational performance.

Member Services

Head of Member Services: Sally Howland

Responsibe for: all areas of membership and distribution activity

 

Director - Membership: Milly Petriella

Member Services is a key service department within APRA, with primary responsibility for managing APRA's relationship with its members and those of AMCOS. Responsibilities cover all aspects of the relationship including: member acquisition, copyright administration, industry advice and complaints handling.

In addition, the the Department is responsible for administering APRA's cultural grants scheme, APRA Awards functions, Professional Development Awards, Song Summit, grants supervised by the Board Awards and Music Grants Committee and delivering the Association's creative and professional development program via members seminars and fora.

Director - Distribution: Andy Stern

Responsible for: distributing royalties to composers and publishers. This involves: identifying and logging performances for the musical works reported by APRA's licensees, including broadcasts on radio, TV, pay TV, use on the internet, in cinemas, discos and at live concerts; and calculating and paying royalties to the composers and publishers of the identified and logged works.
The department also identifies the musical works reproduced onto sound recordings, television programmes, videos, computer servers etc. to distribute royalties to the copyright owners.

Revenue

Head of Revenue: Richard Mallett

Responsible for overseeing all areas of licensing across the two societes.

Director - Licensing Services: Jenny Gome

Responsible for: administering over 80,000 licences for the use of music. Licensing services license music consumers, other than broadcasters and online users, for the public performance and communication of copyright musical works.

 

Director - Broadcast & Online Services: David Sheils

Responsible for: all commercial negotiations, strategic planning and ongoing relationships with key revenue base of radio, television, and subscription TV industries.

In addition, the department is also responsible for the company's strategic positioning, commercial negotiations and licensing in the mobile and online space, which generates revenue from areas such as user-generated content sites, mobile phone entertainment, on-demand web content and internet streaming, in a rapidly converging media environment.

 

Director - Recorded Music Services: Matthew Fackrell

Responsible for: negotiating, implementing and administering licence schemes and agreements for the delivery and sale of recorded music (including CDs, DVDs, karaoke, digital downloads, subscription music services, ringtones, VOD, music applications and background/in-flight music); negotiating, implementing and administering agreements for music-based independent television productions; maintenance of the electronic clearinghouse (CF) between record labels and music publishers governing the release of physical record releases.

Policy and Business Development

Head of Policy & Business Development: Richard Davison

Responsible for co-ordinating and centralising research and analysis, business development and change management within the organisation.

 

Director - Business Development: Alan Balchin

Corporate Services

Head of Corporate Services: Dean Ormston

Responsible for delivery of all corporate, administrative and IT resources across the organisation.

Communications & Human Resources
Responsible for: overseeing APRA|AMCOS’ relationships with the public, media, music industry, government, peer organisations and staff. Corporate Services partners with each APRA|AMCOS department to enhance the efficacy and impact of their communication with key stakeholders; and provides an overall framework for the management of the company's human resource to maximise efficiency.

Director - Information Services: Gus Jansen

Responsible for: providing information processing and transmission to the organisation. This involves the purchase of hardware, the development and/or purchase of software to drive the hardware, and ensuring that the hardware and software keep functioning properly.

Director - Administration & Industrial Relations: Ron Welsh

Responsible for: ensuring that the company's assets are fully protected, maintained and used to best advantage; providing a cost effective and efficient service in maintaining supplies of all externally sourced goods and services; and providing a safe and congenial working environment, conforming with legislation and best practice. The Department is also responsible for the Company's payroll and Industrial Relations framework and compliance.

International

Director: Scot Morris

Responsible for: the coordination of dealings with affiliated societies. The department also has the aim of maximising members' overseas earnings and acting as a trouble-shooter for problems with foreign societies. The International department tracks overseas revenue by territory and establishes/monitors international revenue forecasts.

Finance

Director: Chris Gardoll

Responsible for: managing the the cash funds, banking, investments and credit and financial reporting policies of APRA|AMCOS.

Legal

Corporate Counsel: Jonathan Carter

Responsible for: providing legal and strategic advice in relation to the organisation's corporate and regulatory affairs; internally managing all litigation to which the organisation is a party; developing policies and preparing submissions on regulatory or legislative issues; assisting in the preparation and conduct of negotiations of licences or licence schemes with clients or client groups; supervising the handling of disputes between members; supervising the organisation's regulatory compliance programs, including those related to the Collecting Society Code of Conduct.

Legal also provides Company Secretarial support to the APRA, AMCOS and AMPAL Boards.

NZ Operations

Director: Anthony Healey

Responsible for: management of APRA|AMCOS's New Zealand operations.
