Co-operation between copyright societies worldwide is managed through two key umbrella organisations: CISAC and BIEM.
CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) represents societies of authors and creators including APRA. BIEM (Bureau International des Societies Gerant les Droits d’Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mechanique) represents mechanical rights societies including AMCOS.
Through reciprocal agreements between societies, each society effectively represents the world's repertoire and collects and distributes for its own members and sister societies alike.
