Digital music service providers

Digital music services (aka music download or subscription services) exercise the separate rights of reproduction and communication to the public in musical works.

A digital service provider – as the entity exercising these rights – must obtain a licence from both the owner of the sound recording (generally through deals with record labels) and the owner/exclusive licensee of the music (generally APRA|AMCOS).

APRA|AMCOS encourage the development of legal download services.
