2009 APRA and AMCOS AGM results

The APRA and AMCOS 2009 Annual General Meetings were held Wednesday 25 November at the APRA|AMCOS head office in Ultimo, Sydney.
This year, voting for both APRA and AMCOS was conducted primarily online although members were able to request the option to cast a postal vote. Voting closed Wednesday 18 November at 5pm.
Both APRA and AMCOS Board Directors serve three successive annual year terms in office. There were two vacancies for the position of Australian Writer Director on the APRA Board. Retiring Writer Directors Chris Neal and Mike Perjanik offered themselves for re-election and were returned.
There were three vacancies for the position of Publisher Director. APRA Publisher Director Fifa Riccobono(Alberts Music) retired from the APRA Board after 14 years of service. The Board warmly acknowledged her enormous contribution to the organisation. Ian James (Mushroom Music Pty Ltd) and Damian Trotter (Sony/ATV Music Publishing) also retired as Publisher Directors and offered themselves for re-election and were returned. Newly elected to the Board was Tim Prescott, CEO of Albert Music. Tim is a long standing member of the music industry and brings a wealth of experience to the Board.
CEO, Brett Cottle, took the opportunity on behalf of the wider membership to congratulate Mike Perjanik on 20 years as APRA Chair.
There were five vacancies for the position of AMCOS Board Director. Keith Welsh retired from the Board and received a vote of thanks for tenure and contribution. Four Directors – Matthew Donlevy (Peermusic Pty Ltd), Peter Hebbes (Hebbes Music Group Pty Ltd), Ian James and Norm Lurie (Music Sales Australia Pty Ltd) – retired and offered themselves for re-election and were returned. Mark Callaghan, Managing Director of IS Music, was elected to the Board. Mark is a highly regarded industry advocate and musicican, and is General Manager of AMPAL
We thank all voting members for embracing the greener online voting option. The benefit to the environment and the bottom line was substantial, with the reduction in printing and postage costs reducing the overall AGM running costs by over $80,000.
Both APRA and AMCOS held short Board meetings after the AGMs, with Mike Perjanik returned as Chair of APRA and Ian James returned as Chair of AMCOS.
