Australian Music Identities Launch a Record Attempt for THE WORLDS LONGEST SONG

Tuesday, 22 June 2010

We want you to contribute a couplet to the World's Longest Song. The theme? SONGWRITING of course!

So, get thinking and rhyming and give us your best couplet, summarising the highs and lows of being a music maker! Share the love (and the pain) and create something with your fellow songwriters.

Under the curatorial eye of TV, Radio & Music identity Chit Chat Von Loopin Stab APRA|AMCOS has launched the record attempt for The World’s Longest Song (with the most co-writers).

Chit Chat says, “This World Record Attempt is a great way to draw attention to those at the coal face. The Songwriters. Who aren't always the face you see on the TV or the voice you hear on the radio. But who need their name in a big book. Also, attempting this appeals to my work ethic; since this is a World Record that doesn’t even exist yet!”

The song will be on the theme of Songwriting and delegates of the recent Song Summit conference, had the chance to input their own rhyming couplet while there. Members of the public can now also  provide their couplets online

The song aims to chart the course – the highs and lows – of all music creators. Following the close of submissions, curator Chit Chat, along with Katie Noonan and other notable guests will take the lines and lay them to music – how this will turn out is anyone’s guess!

Anyone taking part in this World Record Attempt will be credited as a co-writer. Any royalties or other income earned by this song will be donated to the charity Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia Ltd*.
The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia Ltd (NRMTA) was founded in 1984 to promote and develop the understanding, training and practice of creative music therapy.

There is currently no official world record for the longest song.
