Calling all APRA songwriters – If you write songs, and play them live then there maybe money waiting for you!
Wednesday, 4 August 2010
It’s time to submit your Live Performance Returns (LPRs) – you’ve got until 31 August!
And we know you’ve been busy! According to a study* by Live Performance Australia, Australia’s Live Music Industry is thriving, contributing $1.1 billion to the Australian economy.
In November last year APRA distributed $4 million to approximately 18,000 songwriters.
Submitting your LPRs is an essential step in the process to receiving your royalty payments for live performances - they let us know what you’ve performed, where you’ve performed and how often.
Jump online, head to the Member Log-in, and complete your Live Performance Return for performances during the 09-10 financial year (1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010). Submit your LPR by Tuesday 31 August, and in November you will receive your royalties.
Need help with your LPR? We are hosting LPR Connecting Member meetings in all capital cities during August. Come down and meet your local APRA Writer Services Representative as they guide you through the LPR process.

*NEW* To help you fill in your LPRs we've produced a 'how to' video demonstration, featuring our very own Rob Collins (National Indigenous & NT Writer Services Representative) and Nardi Simpson (The Stiff Gins). This short video will explain everything you need to know about your LPR.
We also have an online LPR guide PDF.
