Finalists announced for 40th Golden Guitars

The who’s who of Australian country music stepped out in Sydney today to officially launch the industry’s hallmark event - the 2012 Jayco Tamworth Country Music Festival and to announce the finalists for the 40th Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.
Hosts of the launch, Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole reflected on the theme of next year’s festival ‘Looking Forward Looking Back’, with both the festival and its pinnacle event, the Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2012.
With the iconic Golden Guitars the longest running award ceremony in Australia, their 40th year is set to be particularly significant for country music artists, industry members and fans alike. Finalists were announced for what is set to be the biggest night in Australian country music on Saturday January 28, 2012.
Leading the tally for the most finalist nominations was larrikin of country music Adam Harvey, scooping up eight finalist places including Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Album of the Year, as well as Vocal Collaboration of the Year for his work with co-host Beccy Cole on ‘A Good Woman Can’.
Shane Nicholson was close behind, earning seven finalist nods for his critically acclaimed album Bad Machines, with other notable finalists including poster girl of country music Beccy Cole, who took out six places for Songs & Pictures.
The event also saw Connors and producer Matt Fell officially presented with their award for 2011 Album of the Year for their album Still Walking. The award was presented by Australian country music legend and wife of the late Slim Dusty, Joy McKean.
