The APRA licence for Fitness and Aerobics classes was approved by the Copyright Tribunal in 1995, and we also offer a licence for Background Music, enabling Fitness Centres to play music legally via CD, tape player, radio, background music service, and/or TV sets used to show video/DVD, free to air and/or subscription TV; audio Juke Box; and Large Screen and/or Video Juke Boxes.

Both licences offer unfettered access to virtually any work in the world musical repertoire through a single performing right licence.

APRA currently has 1250 fitness centres licensed in Australia with a further 840 licences with fitness instructors and premises offering fitness services.

APRA|AMCOS remains focussed on striking longer term agreements which balance the commercial imperatives of our licensees with the need to provide equitable compensation to Australia’s songwriters for use of their music in businesses.

We have been working closely with the fitness industry and we have a strong and collaborative relationship.

As a result of our discussions with Fitness Australia to date, we have committed to fixing our current fee structure until March 2011. APRA|AMCOS provides a range of licences to cover the many ways in which businesses use music, making it possible for people to play the music of their choice, how and when they choose to play it, simply, cost effectively and legally.
