It’s a long way to the Top 12: Vanda & Young Finalists Announced!

A panel of Australia’s top music industry professionals have reviewed the shortlist of 125 outstanding songs to bring to you The Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition’s Top 12 Entrants.
Drum roll please!!! From an original pool of 3000+ entries, the Top 12 songs in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition have been narrowed down to impressive works created by the following songwriters:

- Jess Chalker, New South Wales, Australia
- Marc Collis, Victoria, Australia
- Matt Corby, New South Wales, Australia
- Brian Eichenberger, USA
- Caitlin Harnett, New South Wales, Australia
- Julie Kember, New South Wales, Australia
- Nicola Lester, Victoria, Australia
- Yasmine Amari, South Australia, Australia
- Kav Temperley, West Australia, Australia
- Megan Washington, Victoria, Australia
- Hayla Weisz, Israel
But, there can only be one winner. An esteemed panel of judges including Jenny Morris, Tim Finn, Iva Davies, Simon Moor (Sony/ATV Music Publishing), Chit Chat (Channel V), Rai Thistlethwayte, Josh Pyke, Les Gock, Charles Fisher, Eric McCusker, Iain Shedden (The Australian), Andy Bull (Gibson Endorsee) will be appraising the Top 12 to select the winner of the 2009 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition.
The winner and triumphant recipient of a prize package worth over $50,000 will be announced on 1st December 2009.
Career-making prize package
In recognition of having written an outstanding song, one of these talented songwriters will be taking home a prize package worth over $50,000 including airfares, accommodation, cash, mentorships, studio time, production team, guitar and much more!.
The Prize:
- Return business class airfare to US and UK + 5 days accommodation in both countries courtesy of Showtravel (valued at AUD $10,000 incl. GST)
- $20,000 cash courtesy of Albert Music
- Songwriter Mentorship with iconic US songwriter, Paul Williams
- Producer mentorship at Kensaltown Studios London; either with Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, James Morrison, Yusuf Islam) or Sacha Skarbeck (James Blunt, Jason Mraz)
- Production crew for video, including director of photography, cameraman, soundman courtesy of XYZ Networks
- Les Paul Gibson Guitar courtesy of Gibson Guitars
- Studio time and engineering at Studios 301 in either Sydney, Byron Bay, Stockholm or Cologne
- Live gig to perform the winning song at Song Summit 2010, Darling Harbour, 19-21 June, 2010 - www.songsummit.com.au
- 3 day FREE pass to attend Song Summit 2010
- 2 tickets to attend 2010 APRA Music Awards, Monday 21 June 2010 (following Song Summit)
