NT Song of the Year winners announced

MusicNT is very pleased to announce the winners of the inaugural NT Song of the Year Awards. Celebrating songwriting from across the Northern Territory, the NT Song of the Year Awards recognises the extraordinary songwriters and songwriting emerging from the Territory.

Across eight genres – Rock, Pop, Folk, Urban/Hip Hop, Blues & Roots, Country, Heavy and Dance & Electronic – plus the APRA People’s Choice Award category – over 200 songs were submitted, and 32 finalists made it to the next stage of judging.

Thee winners are:

Blues
Dave Garnham for Here We Go

Urban
Daniel McAleer, Ashley McDonell, Jacinta Castle and Bradley Braun for Of the Brackets

Folk
Mike Meston for The Pool Behind the Wall

Heavy
Steve Smith for Animal

The Overall Song of the Year was awarded to David Garnham for his song, Here We Go.

The APRA People’s Choice winner was awarded to Darryl Barba and John Coulehan for their song Sleep Tonight nominated in the Rock category.

Congratulations to everyone who entered. Each category winner receives a cash prize of $500 and a pass to the iNTune music conference with the Overall Song Of The Year winner receiving a prize package worth
over $4000.
