PERFORMERS AND PRESENTERS LINE UP FOR 2011 APRA MUSIC AWARDS
APRA Awards special to be broadcast on MAX Thursday 7th July at 9.30pm
Australia’s annual celebration of songwriting, the 2011 APRA MUSIC AWARDS, will be held on Tuesday 21st June at Carriageworks in Sydney and will feature an exciting array of performers and presenters who will dazzle and delight. In addition, we can confirm that subscription television music channel MAX (available on Foxtel and Austar) will be along for the ride to capture the event for an exclusive television broadcast that will air on Thursday 7th July at 9.30pm.
Guiding the much-anticipated musical performances for the 2011 APRA MUSIC AWARDS is musical director extraordinaire Francois (Frank) Tetaz. A musician and film composer in his own right, Tetaz has also produced works for the likes of Lior, Sally Seltmann and Architecture in Helsinki.
Kicking off the festivities for the evening will be New Zealand-born singer songwriter KIMBRA. Having just released her second single “Cameo Lover” to much rapturous adoration, Kimbra will bring her unique talent to the 2011 APRA Music Awards.
Also taking to the stage is band of the moment, Sydney psychedelic grunge outfit PAPA VS. PRETTY whose debut album United In Isolation is getting big wraps all over the country. And coming off the back of her successful Modern Day Addiction album, the ever-charming and sophisticated songstress, CLARE BOWDITCH will perform live at the 2011 APRA Music Awards.
Set to release his long awaited new single Talk Talk Talk to be released on Friday June 24th, international icon of Australian pop music, DARREN HAYES, will make a rare appearance to perform at the 2011 APRA Music Awards. His much anticipated 4th solo album will be released on Mercury (through UMA) soon.
Eclectic Melbourne-based hip-hop crew CURSE OV DIALECT will also perform live as will former Triple J Unearthed winner GUINEAFOWL, who will take to the stage as a six-piece band.
And the night’s swansong will be delivered by one of Australia’s national treasures, PAUL KELLY. This year’s recipient of the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music, the master songwriter will treat audiences to a special live performance.
Taking up the hosting honors for the 2011 APRA MUSIC AWARDS will be champions of champagne comedy CHRIS TAYLOR and ANDREW HANSEN of THE CHASER. Also on hand to lend his esteemed orations to the evening will be Walkley Award winner and all round broadcast legend ANDREW DENTON, who will be presenting the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to music to Paul Kelly. Respected music industry all rounder JOHN O’DONNELL will be on hand to present Songwriter of the Year and SARAH BLASKO, one third of the gorgeous collaboration that is Seeker Lover Keeper will also step up as a special guest presenter.
And finally, the 2011 APRA MUSIC AWARDS will be filmed by subscription television partner MAX for a special that will be broadcast exclusively on MAX on THURSDAY JULY 7TH at 9.30PM. Featuring exclusive interviews from the red carpet and backstage, as well as a wrap-up of all the award winners, this is a special broadcast not to be missed!
