The 2012 National Indigenous Music Awards will take place on Saturday 7 August, as part of the 2012 Darwin Festival.

A celebration of Indigenous cultural and musical talents, this outdoor awards ceremony features a diverse palette of Indigenous dance and music performances – some new, some ancient and some very now.

Highlights include Australian country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley, Central Desert songman Warren H Williams and The Warumungu Songmen and the Territory’s own Sunrize Band and Lajamanu Teenage Band.

Showcasing the next generation of Indigenous music, The Medics will be joined onstage by special guest and 2011 Hall of Fame inductee Coloured Stone’s Bunna Lawrie. Deadly Award winners Yabu Band from WA, NE Arnhem Land rockers East Journey as well as triple j Unearthed competition winner Thelma Plum will also take to the stage.
